Well, it's been a long time since my last blog. Sorry folks. It's been a busy couple of months.
In late June, Emily and Mum came to stay with me for a few weeks, which
was completely awesome.
Taking advantage of the short distance, we took a trip to Rome while they were here. Just for a long weekend, but I really enjoyed it, and I think they did too. Some photos from the trip are here:
You can see a bunch more here.
In Rome we ate a lot of ice cream, pizza and pasta. Cliches I know, but it was bloody hot so the ice cream was more about survival than anything.
I was a little surprised at the amount of grafitti around the place in Rome, but when we got closer to the 'touristy' bits, it wasn't so bad. Truly amazing architecture and ruins.
Emily's year-and-a-bit of learning Italian proved handy, especially in communications with our hotel's staff, whose English was not great. Her ability to go downstairs and obtain a fan for us might have been instrumental in saving our lives (ok, an exageration, but it sure felt like it at the time!)
We did a *lot* of walking, despite the heat. The only transport we took, apart from the train to and from the airport was the tour bus for one day, which took us to all the popular sights.
The lines at checkin and security in Rome airport were a nightmare, but eventually we made it back to British soil, safe and sound.

Your snaps make me want to spend my house deposit on a big fuck-off holiday!
*sigh*
Eating icecream on one's own couch just isn't as exciting :)
You'd probably be upset to hear I just got back from a trip to Canada then :-P
Was great, but currently amazingly jetlagged.
Cool! Pleeeeeeeeeeease tell me you went to Degrassi Street...?
Next time can you go somewhere...uh, less...fun... so then I won't be quite so jealous?
I hear North Korea's quite tyrannical this time of year!
When is it not tyrannical? :-)
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?
No Degrassi Street, just Vancouver, Banff and Jasper to see glaciers, mountains and salmon leaping upstream.
